DI handbag
|
After all of the pats on the back, it seems making handbags wasn't cost effective for Decorator Industries. The company headquartered in Goshen, Indiana, used to manufacture window treatments and bedding for RVs. When RVs stopped selling, the company was stopped dead in its tracks. Using some ingenuity, Decorator Industries turned the curtains into handbags.
Although the company produced 2,000 bags in three months, it just wasn't worth the effort as it proved not to be cost effective. But there is still good news.
Two women related to the RV business will take over the production of handbags and will venture into new items as well. And the ladies plan to continue employing the current workers as well as hope to hire more as they expand the venture. The handbags will still carry the DI name. Entrepreneurism is alive and well!
